Hope
Digital Printed Design
Digital print on heavy silk satin. A detailed painting of garden flowers; Dahlias, Poppies and Irises which have a resemblance to hope. I have used florals that typically can be found in a British garden to enable the viewers to relate to the scenes.
Selection of screen printed fabrics
Three of my screen printed fabrics from the print room—all on hand-dyed silk twill with my imagery. The combination of flowers and gemstone textures have been combined together to create layered, tonal compositions.
Detailed Drawing
Dotted Pen drawing, a composition made up of irises, a butterfly and a dragonfly. I then repeated this to use as a screen print within my outcome. I was inspired to use insects in my compositions by Alexander McQueen and the Dutch Masters paintings that I viewed in the National Gallery.
Digital print
Digital print on silk twill; a more simple design of just two poppies. I wanted to create a design using only poppies as I feel this is a commonly known flower for hope, especially because of the link with War.
Screenprint
A two-layered screen print on hand-dyed, silk fuji is made up of a repeat of a detailed composition.
Screen Print selection
Three of my screen printed design samples were created in the print room.
Digital print
Digital print on silk twill of a detailed painting of flowers and insects which are related and symbolism. The Dutch Masters paintings inspired me to create textured backdrops behind the painting.
Visualisations
A selection of the final visualisations from the red colour story of my collection.

Work Experience
Amanda Kelly: I worked at Amanda Kelly for five months in the London-based studio within my placement year. This role was mostly administrative based and it gave me a good insight into how a textiles studio runs. At times being the only intern I had a lot of responsibilities day to day and gained excellent skills such as editing and making repeats on Photoshop, as well as organisation ability. I was also able to see how sales calls would take place. I really enjoyed my time at Amanda Kelly.
Bay and Brown: During my placement year I interned at Bay and Brown for just over three months in their studio in Hackney Wick, London. I created drawings every day which the team turned into digital designs. My painting and drawing skills improved significantly throughout my time on this internship and moved forward into my final year of studies. It was also great for me to see how my designs were turned into fashion prints. Being in a studio environment also allowed me to see how clients were formed and to see sales calls occur.
Fairbairn and Wolf: This placement was remote and I was working from home. I created paintings and drawings every day during this internship and sent these off to be made into designs.
