CHROMOSOME CHECK SUIT
The genderless suit is made from Merino wool, Jacquard is woven using X & Y motifs, reflecting on female and male chromosomes. The overlapping shapes create a new chromosome motif, symbolising the fluidity and intertwining of gender.
An animated gradient of 1950s feminine and masculine colours is then projected onto the suit, blending between the two colourways. Allowing the wearer to have the flexibility between feminine and/or masculine representation.
CHROMOSOME CHECK SUIT
The genderless suit in natural light. The textile collection is based on a nude, neutral colourway, underpinning a genderless palette, referencing skin tones.
The 1950s inspired suit also allows the wearer to have the option of what is traditionally regarded as a feminine or masculine silhouette by having adjustable binding on the waist of the garment, transforming the performer's shape. Creating an inclusive genderless fashion collection for all.
FEMININE GRADIENT
An example of a 1950s inspired feminine colour palette made into a gradient to be projected onto the wearer.
OMAN DIGITAL PRINT
1950s inspiration is drawn from the culture and advertising, by purchasing original vintage men’s and women’s magazines and comparing the content within, to supply primary and visual research. The fonts and text within these magazines morph, through the collection, into gender-equal phrases and adverts. The magazines are used to create abstract collages that blur the lines between genders. Pulling collage inspirations from Dada artists such as Hannah Höch and the reimagined ‘50s sexist ads by Eli Rezkallah.
OMAN VISUALISATION
The Oman print as a digital drawing visualisation using 1950s men's sports jackets as garment inspiration.
SAME LOVE
Same love Jacquard Weave made from Merino wool. Quoting from primary research interviews on gender, using 1950s magazine letters to create an original font.
