Following and building on traditions from Western European and East African cultures, heritage forms the basis of my project.

Modern Traditions
Untitled
This piece is part of a larger arrangement of cotton fabric. In exploring the relationship between Britain and Uganda, I opted to mimic a tapestry aesthetic in screen-printing onto a textured material. The images themselves are taken from my time in Uganda, the central focus of which are the cultural motifs of the nation, particularly the cycles and motorbikes which re-occur throughout my project.
Untitled
This solar plate etching is one half of a diptych. The scene is one from the commercial district in Kampala, Uganda. The bustling cityscape was taken from the inside of a car, with the intention of giving the viewer a clear frame of perspective. The actual process is rather new to me, but I found it instantly compelling as it gives the photo a manual aspect, which changes the outcome of the image with every print. The two pictures were taken in succession. When they are both viewed together, they give a sense of movement and energy that captures the immediacy of my project's themes.

Work Experience
I undertook a management internship at Blue Rhino Art Consultancy from 12th October 2020 - to 12th March 2021. As it served as my first-time experiencing work in the industry, it proved to be the most challenging for me. My main role entailed artist research and copywriting for artist profiles and portfolios, which soon progressed to a more focused role in contributing to exhibition concepts, marketing, and curation as we began preparations for the 2020/21 period.
I undertook an internship with the photography artist, Marc Kenyon, from 26th October 2020 - to 1st July 2021. Working with an artist with experience in the industry gave me great insights into the dynamics between them. My main responsibilities included photographing models, marketing to companies and individuals, the general administration of projects, and contributing to exhibition planning.
I left this placement with a clear understanding of how an artist could navigate the industry successfully, and of good practices when it comes to building relationships and organising events.
I undertook an internship at Gazelli Art house, London, from 29th April 2021 - to 30th October 2021. They had recently installed their permanent virtual reality exhibition in Gazell.io, the digital arm of the gallery. Here, I was able to intimately gauge the inner workings of the gallery by performing varied duties, whilst becoming acquainted with industry-standard software such as ArtLogic and Adobe InDesign.
My main responsibilities involved supporting the Gazell.io staff in artist and NFT research, social media contribution, and engaging visitors which mainly consisted of guiding them through the exhibits.
