Diagnosis Box for newly diagnosed Type 1 Diabetics
Neway Diagnosis Box
The project is aimed at young adults aged 16-25, who have been newly diagnosed with type 1 diabetes.
The idea is that, upon diagnosis, these individuals will be given the ‘Neway Diagnosis Box’ to take home with them from the hospital. The aim of the box is to reassure these individuals and make them feel less overwhelmed about their diagnosis.
The contents of the box include a quick guide to type 1 diabetes as well as information leaflets for friends and family, the box also contains a tote bag, kit bag and stickers to decorate their medical devices. All of which are intended to make living with a chronic condition easier for each person and to make them feel more empowered.
Back to Basics Guide
The booklet is one of many items included in the box. It goes 'back to basics' and includes all the initial and important information that would have been given upon diagnosis. The idea here is that it takes the pressure off of the patient to remember all of the information that has been given to them on top of their potentially shocking diagnosis. This reliable source aims to be informative and reassuring in the initial diagnosis period when a doctor is not accessible.
A social Media presence
Additional to the diagnosis box and its contents, the target audience of the project will also be able to follow 'Neway' on social media sites such as Instagram, to get up to date information, as well as facts and figures, tips and tricks, to help them with their day to day management of their chronic condition. This platform also allows them to reach out to other people within the diabetic community.

Work Experience
Between my second and third year on the Graphic Communication and Illustration course, I spent a year on placement at Digital Deadline. Specialising in signage and wayfinding, vehicle graphics and wraps, display and wall wraps, as well as promotional material, Digital Deadline design, print and installation for international brands and local companies.
My year on placement was truly insightful and rewarding. Working as part of the design team I worked on a range of briefs, designing for a variety of customers. This experience improved my social, workplace environment and customer services skills, moreover, my design and software knowledge has improved enormously.
