Journey
Tapestry Weaving - Journey
For my Final Major Project, I am creating concept designs for the video game 'Journey' inspired by Islamic art. In this tapestry, I have woven naturally dyed yarn created using spices and food relevant to Islamic culture using a handmade loom.
Sand Collagraph - Journey
To further explore printmaking, I created a collagraph with layers of sand. This abstract image resembles the shapes present in one of the mark-making experiments that I painted to the soundtrack of the game 'Journey'. Using this material links my prints to the environment and setting of the video game, whilst investigating the subtlety of textures created by the sand.
Typeface Embroidery - Journey
After creating a typeface inspired by Eastern Kufic scripts, I embroidered the text 'Journey' into a piece of calico fabric. I batiked the textile with wax to mask out symbols and motifs that I had been researching which were present on woven kilims.
Cultivate
After using different processes such as collagraph and cyanotype printing, I settled on a digital illustration of the word 'Cultivate' carved into a field. Taking inspiration from crop circles and the cyclical behaviour of nature, I created the typeface used in my final postcard, shading the letters in a way that gives the text depth.

Visibility
This is a mockup of how my finished mural for Loughborough University's Equality, Diversity & Inclusivity mural competition would look like presented in a public space.
This piece features colours and symbols associated with the LGBT+ Rainbow flag and the Black Lives Matter movement to create an eye, representing the need for the visibility of marginalised groups. A shadow of purple – the colour that is synonymous with Loughborough University's brand and identity – floats beneath the shapes, reflecting the inclusive community at Loughborough and how it supports social justice.
A Safe World
During the Equality, Diversity & Inclusivity emblem brief, I decided to focus on creating a warm and welcoming symbol that represents the support we should all have for each other, no matter our differences. To contextualise my outcome, I created a mockup of the image on top of a tote bag, transforming the illustration into a recognisable mascot of sorts.
