Hi, I’m Millie. I am a dynamic, driven final year student specialising in Printed Textiles. I take great joy in working with fresh, bold colour to create lively, figurative studies. I take care in my design development and always strive to create a collection that is thorough in approach.

'Church Lane' headscarf

A two-layer VAT screen print onto hand-dyed organic cotton lawn. This headscarf print is a homage to Church lane, a lane which holds many joyful memories for me, both past and present. Capturing elements of my surroundings, I’ve created a composition which encapsulates Church lane and its importance to me, perfectly.

'Lunces' scarf

'Lunces' scarf styled as a top. This scarf can be multi-wear, as shown in the picture above or worn either as a sarong or scarf.

'Lancing' towel

A one-layer VAT screen print onto a 100% cotton Hammam towel. This print is made up of a series of sketches from a sunny, summer's day at the beach in Lancing.

'Church Lane' colour ways

'Park Run' scarf

A two-layer VAT screen print onto donated McQueen crinkle silk. This design was inspired by a film photo I captured of my dad running the park run down in Hove. Through first-hand sketching, this print captures the beautiful movement and chaos of the first moment where everyone busily runs past one another.

Work Experience

Isabel Manns, Fashion Design Internship. - Sept-Dec 2020

Throughout this design placement, I was working alongside Isabel herself to help make creative decisions for her new website and design/colour ideas for future collections. I have developed key skills on Shopify such as adding and creating products/collections, designing lookbook pages and amending shipping/product details. One of my main roles throughout was to make Isabel's new headbands using surplus fabric from her previous collections. This enabled me to strengthen my hand sewing skills. I was also in charge of editing headband photographs on Photoshop for the website and for social media.

Bay and Brown, Print Design Internship. - Feb – Apr 2021

During this placement, I worked on daily design briefs. This involved studying different drawing styles from initial inspiration imagery and creating my own interpretation. This was a great experience to develop my hand painting skills to create considered, high-quality outcomes. I gained great insight into working at the Industry pace and what the design process entailed after I had created the initial motifs.

Secondhome Interiors, Interior Design Internship. - May 2021

My main roles included researching and sourcing home furnishings and furniture to create mood boards for clients. Working to client briefs and carefully considering their own style and needs whilst still incorporating my own considered, creative ideas.
