I would describe myself as an innovative, determined designer with a keen eye for detail. I love bringing ideas to reality.

Sustainable Sneaker Project

This project was part of my sustainable design module. I was challenged to design a better, more sustainable solution to the everyday sneaker. I chose to create a modular shoe design which has a steel toe add-on. The idea of the shoe was to combine the everyday sneaker and a pair of safety boots into one. Thus, reducing the number of pairs of shoes bought and materials used. The solution is made from fully recycled and recyclable materials.

Breakdown of Shoe Components

The shoe can break down into various pieces at the end of its life to allow the user to recycle the parts properly. This will allow the parts to re-enter the manufacturing process if the material is still usable. Creating a solution that follows a circular economy was the main focus of this project.

AirBnb Hub

A week-long live project, which looked at optimising the communication between the host and their guests. Airbnb Hub is a smart hub that the guest would interact with to learn about the amenities of the house, its location and how they work. The guest can also find information about the local area, and the rules of the house and as a last resort, they can contact the host. If the guest speaks a different language then the hub can also change the language to cater to their needs.

Inverto - Aeropress Coffee Machine

This project was part of my Mechanics and Electronics module. My brief was to create a fully automated coffee machine with as little user interaction as possible. This project combined all of my mechanics and electronic knowledge into one. The electronic components were programmed using a PICKit3 Programmer and then fitted into the body of the machine that was manufactured in the design school. A working video of the coffee machine can be seen on my YouTube.
