My work focuses on highlighting and confronting female body image issues, which is inspired from the nature of the 'idealised' body image within the modern day.

Confronting Body Image
Light Installation
This image is from my light installation in which the shadows of the viewers are distorted to highlight the distortion that one experiences when one analyses their own body. Paired with this is a sound experience in which the reality behind body image insecurities are discussed to highlight how distortion can affect one's perception, this I have done to showcase that body image affects a large number of people in various different ways and to educate those who might not understand what it means to struggle with your body image and for those who do to know, you are not alone.

Light Installation
Image to show an example of accentuated poses and how they can change your shadow and perception. While additionally shows the experimental process of setting up the installation, experimenting with the height of the light, and how that changed the composition of the shadows further accentuating the distortion within the installation.

Anonymous confrontation photograph
One of the photographs from the series is titled 'Anonymous Confrontation to body image'. The process behind this series was inspired by the artist Gillian Wearing as it was created by asking women myself included who use social media between the ages of 20-25 to write down in a word or two what their body image insecurities are. This series was constructed as a means to confront the word each subject chose as a method of accepting that the specific word or words do not define us.
Anonymous confrontation photograph
This photo is another from the anonymous collection. Additionally, I asked a series of questions asking for the context behind the word chosen to further confront the insecurity of the female who was photographed, while also spreading awareness of the nature behind the specific insecurity as a platform for others struggling with similar or the same to know they are not alone. This will be played over the installation.
