I am a passionate Printed Textiles Graduate. Drawn towards creating imaginative and joyous hand crafted prints.

TOGETHER

Seeing how different communities interact, I began to draw and paint from both my travels to Copenhagen and the experiences I saw at home in London. To create this tapestry I began to weave together different elements of life that brought people together and build this story of togetherness in modern life.

EXPLORATION OF COLOUR

Colour has been at the forefront of my project. From exploring bold combinations of colours in my paintings to testing a range of print pastes and fabrics to work onto to create my collection of designs.

DESIGN DEVELOPMENT

My process involves a dedicated degree of painting and drawing to develop and explore a range of ideas, using bold and fresh colours to tell a story through my designs .This is one of my large scale tapestry paintings, inspired by the city of colourful city of Copenhagen. It represents the idea of co-exisiting, living with one another together.

Work Experience

Fairbairn & Wolf Studio| Drawing & Design Intern | September- December 2020

During my placement year, I worked at Fairbairn & Wolf studio for three months in Peckham, London. My role ranged from designing for a series of briefs and concepts for all manners of subject matters, to bring fresh and innovative designs to the studio, to then be sold onto brands commercially. Exploring a wide range of mediums and techniques to create innovative and authentic designs. Experimenting with colour, shape and composition to develop my own artistic style which I would develop digitally. I got the opportunity to design for commercial and international trade shows, challenging me to delve into a different cultural realm of trends and narratives. The role was fast pace and time management skills were vital.

RIXO | Print Design Intern | January - June 2021
For my second placement I worked at Rixo, a womenswear brand known for their vintage inspired prints and timeless shapes who make women feel empowered when wearing them. Whilst working at Rixo for six months, I worked collaboratively with the designers and buyers to create an array of vintage inspired prints, underpinned by research of colour and print to inform my process. I sourced a range of vintage imagery and inspiration that could be used by the print designers to offer new and fresh ideas, to complement RIXO's already unique designs. My role included sourcing and leasing with the fabric supplies to provide the most suitable fabrics for the collections, as well as meeting our internal deadlines. Other such roles included creating CADs and drawing up digital designs for the senior designers.
Carrying on my enthusiasm with Rixo, I helped in the Events and PR team to set up and manage the events and branding partnerships at Rixo's London Fashion Week Campaign SS21 Collection ' Bon Voyage'.
