Denim Patchwork with Applique
This piece uses a range of machine couching, patchwork and appliqué techniques to create a bespoke denim jean front panel. The shapes are inspired by the contrast between the fluid typography seen on shop signs and the structured lines of the buildings they are placed on.
In Progress - Baca Workshop
Young people start to add shapes to the collaborative piece that explores "what does community mean to you?". Conversations take place about the importance of friendship and celebrations when someone is granted asylum. Work is carried out on a purpose-designed fabric base stretched over a frame hand-built by Iona.
Leicester Graffiti Print
This placement screen print on donated McQueen shirting fabric was inspired by the graffiti of Leicester. I'm interested in the marks that we make on our local communities and spaces. What imagery do we leave behind?
Laser Engraved Denim Swatch
An everyday pedestrian scene from Leicester is engraved on denim salvaged from a faulty jean sample. This fabric is designed to be used as a feature back pocket.
Houndstooth Typography Collage
A layered collage was used to develop ways of working with printed fabrics as a base. This piece has then evolved into an appliqué wool design for a coat.
Patched Denim Sample
This experimental sample explores different techniques of attaching patches and arranging fabrics on denim, through the machine and hand stitching.

Work Experience
One of my placements was as a Design Intern at Chantuque, Moseley Road, which is a denim supplier. I was responsible for assisting the design team with trend research, market research and comp shops, driving newness and informing designs. Reporting sales data back to the team weekly was also part of my role, and helped strengthen my presentation skills. I had a great experience working in a small team and learning more about denim production and new innovation in dyeing and washing.
My other placement was as a Studio Intern at Ssone, a sustainable womenswear brand based in London. I worked as part of a small team in both production and design. Liaising with factories, and overseeing fabric and trim stock was part of my role. Working closely with the head designer, I was able to see the full development of each collection and assist with creating technical specs and artworks. One of my highlights of this placement was hand embroidering denim pieces that were part of the Selfridges Project Earth offers.
