An enthusiastic final year student specialising in Integrated Digital Practices. I am a textiles designer with a passion for exploring colour through design, development and experimentation.

Hues of Blue: Colour Development

Colour development has been a key and vital factor to consider when thinking about composition and a collection as a whole.

Silk Screen Printing

This collection has allowed me to refine my knowledge and skills in screen printing. I have developed a great love for screen-printed textiles as it has allowed me to recycle materials whilst resulting in outcomes that embody the process and have a raw, handmade element to it.

Atlantic Beach Blanket

A recycled and screen printed wool blanket that celebrates and portrays the energy of the Cornish sea. A design composed of thick, sweeping, wave brush marks and muscle motifs inspired by seafront photography in a striped back two-tone colourway.

Out Towards the Sea and Sky

This is one of the many primary photographs that sparked the beginning of my project. This view of 'out towards the sea and the sky' was taken at Polzeath Beach where I share many fond memories with family and friends. It was from these sunset hues that I took inspiration for the development of my colour palette.

Coastal Foraging

This single layer screen print on recycled linen is inspired by 'coastal foraging'. A much-beloved beach activity as a child as well as rock pooling, where you may be lucky to find cockles, scallops, whelks, crabs and mussels.

Work Experience

Marks and Spencer

Gained invaluable industry experience working as a valued member of the Womenswear Fabric Sourcing Team at Marks & Spencer head office, London. Contributing to brands including Autograph and Per Una and working alongside the Buying, Design & Technical teams to globally source and develop fabrics for each new season. This experience reinforced the importance of teamwork and proved I can back up a team to a high level even throughout a global pandemic. I was able to build strong admin skills using the PLM, Critical Path & Excel Systems as well as Colour & Trend Forecasting using resources including WGSN and creating Shop Reports to share with the teams. Greatly building my confidence, I developed strong communication skills with global hubs and suppliers.

Fairbairn and Wolf Studios

With high levels of responsibility being the first student to take on this role, I joined the FWS team in Peckham, South London as a Media Intern. This was a great opportunity to get experience creating content for multiple fashion industries and gain a deeper understanding of the fashion and print world. The pandemic reinforced the importance of a brand's online presence and for it to stay true to itself. Working closely with designers and business owners I was running their official FWS Instagram social media, creating content for different media platforms, creating campaigns, and gifs. imagery, videos, animations, and mood boards as well as updating and refining the brand's website and blog.

Amanda Kelly

Serving a variety of roles in my time here, within this well established Print Design studio. I worked closely with the in house and freelance print designers as well as the business owners Amanda and Duncan to help organise and run the studio. I took on the responsibility of helping to make sure the print studio ran smoothly from opening up the store, to cutting incoming designs from designers which I would then overlock, style, photograph, and document ready to be uploaded to their website. I spent time designing bespoke commissions for valued customers on Photoshop with developed computer skills and had the driving force in the training of new students.
