I strive to tackle real world problems through technical-based design solutions.
Final year project
Milli - Blood Pressure Monitor, designed specifically for pregnant women in low resource settings to help prevent deaths from pre-eclampsia.
Milli
Milli, is a blood Pressure Monitor, designed specifically for pregnant women in low resource settings to help prevent deaths from pre-eclampsia. Speaking to volunteers and leaders of charities who train midwives in these settings allowed me to design a product specifically for these low resource environments. The blue material is a 'wrist rest' that encourages users to correctly use this technical piece of equipment.
Functional Model
A function model of the monitor was prototyped using a combination of 3D printing and electronics. The screen can be flipped so that both the user and a medical professional can read the results.
Prototype Testing
The functional prototype was able to be tested to gain insights into how those with no previous medical training were able to interact with it. This testing influenced design changes that were implemented before the final proposal. One example of a change was an extra button being added to begin each pumping cycle.
Electronic Prototyping
An iterative process of prototyping and testing was required to ensure the product was correctly coded and worked exactly as intended.
Electromechanical Coffee Machine
A group project that required us to design an automated coffee making system, based around an AeroPress. Our prototype filled each mug from its base. I focused on the coding and electronics behind our design.

Work Experience
My placement year at Sand and Birch, a Rome based design consultancy, exposed me to whole new design culture. I was primarily working for a sports brand on a variety of new products as well as graphics for the brand's website. I used this opportunity to improve my adobe suite skills, especially in Illustrator and Photoshop. Working in a different country where very few people spoke English meant it was imperative to communicate clearly when presenting my designs and I had experiences presenting to clients over Europe.
