I am an empathetic designer with the ambition to solve real-life problems and provide delightful user experiences.
Final year project
Strand - Helping patients with androgenetic alopecia monitor and manage their hair safely and independently.
Strand
Given the importance of hair to our sense of self-esteem, patients with androgenetic alopecia can suffer from a great impact on their quality of life. However, the positive psychological effects that can be encountered from education and a holistic treatment plan are huge, allowing the user to take control of their hair rather than feeling like their life is consumed by their disorder. When accurate monitoring and advice are desired by the user, it is difficult to visit medical services frequently enough due to high costs and long waiting lists heightening the anxiety already felt. In addition, limited education and support outside of these appointments mean users make uninformed and potentially unsafe product purchases due to general confusion and panic as to the best way to manage their disorder.
Scalp Analysis
With the use of the hand-held microscope, the user takes a series of images at 50x magnification of their scalp utilising a projected blue dot shown on the screen to guide them into a consistent position. Artificial intelligence (AI) then determines a series of hair parameters such as overall hair density, number of terminal and vellus hairs, cumulative hair thickness, yellow dots and follicular units to calculate a figure for the loss or growth of the hair.
Hair Pattern Analysis
The device utilises the digital interface to guide the user into the frame displayed on the screen. The hub camera system then uses biometric mapping technology to gain a unique map of the user's head to then be analysed by AI to track the user's pattern of baldness over time.
Privacy
To maximise the privacy sought by the user and to avoid the embarrassment previously felt, Strand is designed for the home environment with the appearance of a mirror when the screen is turned off. If desired, the subtle glowing light can be set to remind the user of their treatment routine in order to encourage adherence.
User Interface
The device UI not only displays instructions for the monitoring sequence but also the user's tailored treatment plan and hair density results in an easily interpretable manner. Information regarding education, profile and diagnosis details as well as access to emotional support are also available to provide personalised support to the user. Additionally, the user can communicate with the trichologist they have chosen to support them over their subscription period.
Powerie- Renewable Electric Vehicle Charging
Powerie enables users to charge their electric vehicle (EV) in a convenient and time-efficient manner whilst utilising the surplus renewable energy they have generated, at a higher rate of return. This energy will power replaceable EV batteries making gaining charge seamless and easy with the ability to charge on the go. Machine learning technology integrates the pick-up and return of the battery into the user’s routine in the most optimum manner meaning they no longer have to deal with tedious pre-planning and can make the most out of the time that is valuable to them.
Studio of Graphics - Brand Identities
An element of my side business 'studio of graphics' involves refreshing or developing brand identities for my client's companies. This is an example of a complete re-brand in which sub-logos, price lists, gift and business cards and social media material were created. The collection of work involved iterating numerous designs and putting my creative spin on the ideas and requests communicated to me.
Studio of Graphics- SRfE
Another example of ongoing work is the creation of brochures and social media graphics for SRfE, a prejudice reporting tool developed by the Cambridge council to be used in schools. The designs aim to raise brand awareness in a fun and engaging style. Each week, I consult with the client to ensure the graphics effectively support the information needing to be portrayed.

Work Experience
Unilever- Junior Designer '21
Working at Unilever within the FMCG industry was an invaluable experience designing for global brands such as Dove, TRESemme, Sunsilk and more. I had the opportunity of working within a collaborative and multidisciplinary team with a real focus on consumers and sustainability and was often given the task of leading a project and then presenting it back to the global hair packaging team. Regular tasks included concept generation, CAD, application of Adobe Creative Cloud, consumer and market research and design visuals (illustrations, digital sketches, renders etc.)
Studio of Graphics- Freelance Graphic Designer '21- Present
After completing my university placement last year, I had a lot more time on my hands and really missed getting involved in design projects and tackling briefs. Therefore, I decided to officially set up my own small freelance business building personal and unique brand identities and developing visual content using the Adobe Creative Suite. This is something that has really grown over the past year and has meant I have had to manage my time well in order to keep up with this whilst completing my final year at university.
