'Final Voyage' - 2D Animated Short Film
"Submerged City" - frame from 'Final Voyage'
This is the moment the man first sees the entire city has become submerged underwater and also marks the beginning of his voyage into the next life.
"Running through the kitchen" - frame from 'Final Voyage'
This is a frame from one of the opening scenes which follows the mouse running through the house. The mouse acts as a spirit guardian for the man and leads him on his 'Final Voyage'. He is an essential character and helps drive the story which is why it was important to introduce him very early on so the viewer becomes engaged and invested in the character and, in turn, the story.
"Wall of Water" - frame from 'Final Voyage'
The man stands in front of the wall of water which acts as a barrier between his current life in the real world and the passageway into the afterlife realm.
"Filling the teacup" - frame from 'Final Voyage'
The curious mouse peers into a teacup moments before a teapot appears in the frame to fill it with hot tea. Small moments like this were essential as they give the mouse a personality - this makes him more appealing so the viewer is more likely to remain engaged with the film and the story.
"Looking up at the stairs" - frame from 'Final Voyage'
The man reaches the end of his 'voyage' between life and the afterlife and becomes face to face with stairs ascending into the afterlife. After this frame, the man turns to the mouse, expecting him to make the first move - as he has initiated his journey up until now - but the mouse sits down to imply that it's now up to the man to take these final steps.
