hitte - lacrosse aid for female players suffering from Rayanud's disease
hitte
Raynaud's disease is an idiopathic circulatory disease that affects up to 20% of the female population. It causes reduced blood flow to the extremities leaving the hands cold and worsening dexterity, this has negative impacts on the performance of a lacrosse player who needs their hands to grip their stick. Through the application of targeted heat, hitte restores blood flow to the hands eliminating the negative impacts that a Raynaud's attack can have on the player.
hitte - prototype
A functional electronic prototype was used to test the technology and the user experience of hitte. The circuit included heating elements, temperature sensors, a relay and LEDs controlled by a single button through a PIC18F45K20 microcontroller programmed in C.
hitte Storyboard
The storyboard shows the functionality and user experience of the device. Before hitte is used, the blood vessels are constricted, reducing blood flow. The stick is then turned on to the desired setting, which heats the hands and dilates the blood vessels, restoring circulation and dexterity.
Bloom Appearance Model
Bloom consists of two devices, the 'flower' is kept in garden flower beds to collect pollen and the docking station is kept inside. Pollen can be identified by its colour, so colour sensors in the dock are used to recognise the types of flowers bees are attracted to. This information is sent to an app that provides details on the optimal planting periods and conditions, as well as advice on how to maintain them.
Bertie Functional Motion Controlled Car
An electronics partner project to create a device programmed in C. Bertie is controlled by a 2-axis accelerometer, the user tilts the joystick and the motion is identified to be either left, right, forwards or backwards and the car moves accordingly. The direction of movement and a pair of custom character eyes are displayed on the LED.
Déjà Brew Functional Prototype
A combined mechanics and electronics group project to design and manufacture an automated AeroPress coffee machine. The machine identified the type of desired coffee (either espresso or americano) by the weight of the mug placed on the platform. It dispenses coffee and water and then plunges the coffee into the mug using a motorised pulley system and lead screws.

Work Experience
6-month internship at Sand and Birch, Latina, Italy 2020
I worked in areas outside of my degree through a range of different projects including interior design, furniture design and illustration, working both on my own and in different teams. The main project I worked on was the redesign of the interior and branding of a gelateria, working closely with the owners to bring their vision to life.
6-month internship at Studio Stallinga, Amsterdam, The Netherlands 2021
I worked on two major projects, the first involving the programming and manufacture of a new art installation. I started mid-way through the project working on debugging both software and hardware issues within the existing code and circuit. The second project was the fitting of a light installation in the Terrace Tower in Amsterdam. I worked on this project from the beginning proposal renders to installing the lights at the end.
