I am a final year Graphic Communication and Illustration student at Loughborough University, looking to kickstart my book illustration and design career.

'What Worries?'
'What Worries?' Is an interactive children's book helping primary school kids to understand and cope with anxiety. Its story follows Tonka, an unhappy toucan whose worries just keep growing, Gerry the Giraffe whose worries keep him up at night and Pan the Panda who can’t focus at school. The engaging characters encourage young children to confront their worries and the book provides a space where they can write their thoughts down.
Refugee
'Refugee' is a poem by Brian Bilston that aims to change individuals' perspectives on stereotyping migrants. The poem can be read in two different ways each with a different meaning. This project aims to reflect Bilston's poem through an illustrative interactive book. The book reflects one perspective of the poem and can then be flipped to read the other narrative.
'What Worries?'
This children's book project caused me to develop my practice and original style as an illustrator. Having only worked with hand-drawn illustrations, I wanted to push my designs by creating flatter more appealing imagery for younger readers. I began to focus fully on shapes through the use of collage, a process that has since been featured in my other work.
'Refugee'
Having never illustrated people before I struggled to find my visual language with this project. However, I followed a similar process to my previous children's book and focused on the use of shapes to construct my character designs. I also created a darker illustrative style, playing with shadows and tones to convey the message of Brian Bilston's poem.
